Family Birding Tours in Uganda
Uganda is a wonderful family birding destination. Our family-friendly birding tours combine engaging wildlife experiences for all ages with comfortable logistics, shorter drive times and flexible itineraries that work for children and adults alike. Seeing the shoebill stork for the first time is a moment children never forget.
Age-Appropriate Activities
For families with younger children (5 to 12 years), we focus on accessible birding sites like Entebbe Botanical Gardens and Mabamba Swamp where birds are close and plentiful. Canoe rides on Mabamba are a highlight for children of all ages. For older children and teenagers, we include chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, boat safaris on the Kazinga Channel and game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Family-Friendly Accommodation
We select family-friendly lodges with swimming pools, gardens and safe outdoor space throughout Uganda's national parks. All lodges in our family tours are selected for comfort, safety and proximity to birding sites. We avoid long driving days on family tours and prioritise a relaxed pace with morning birding and afternoon rest time built in.
Making Birds Exciting for Kids
Our guides are experienced at engaging younger birders — providing children's species checklists, mini binoculars and running a family bird list competition throughout the tour. Many families tell us their children come home more enthusiastic about birds than they were before the trip. Contact us to build a Uganda family birding itinerary.
